A visual distillate of Fassbinder’s art, with key stills from each of his movies, an essay by German film historian Hans Helmut Prinzler, and a birthday message by John Waters. 190 film stills from 1966-1982.

On May 31, 2020, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, cinephile self-taught and giant of the young German film of the 1960s and 70s, would be 75th birthday to celebrate. The fact that he left behind an oeuvre of 44 films on his untimely death in 1982, which emerged in just 17 years - from the Stadtstreicher (1966) to the posthumously published Querelle (1982) - is thanks to the unconditional expressiveness of this creative berserker and self-exploiter, who between the poetry of Brecht, the elegance of Jean-Luc Godard and the discovery of the profane for art in the spirit of Warhol. Our new volume of the "Library of Classics" brings together 180 images from almost all of his films and gives the opportunity to celebrate Fassbinder's legacy in a reunion with numerous companions whose fame he helped to establish.
